The rolled mattress, often referred to as a "mattress in a box" is the modern solution for those who require a high-quality sleep surface without the logistical challenges of a traditional delivery. By using advanced compression technology, we are able to carefully roll and vacuum-seal our mattresses into a compact, manageable box. This makes it significantly easier to navigate narrow hallways, tight staircases, and small door frames that might otherwise be impassable for a standard King size mattress.

Our collection proves that convenience does not have to come at the expense of comfort. Every rolled mattress is handcrafted using premium materials, ensuring that once it is unrolled and expanded, it provides the same level of orthopaedic support and luxury feel as our flat-delivered models. Whether you are upgrading a guest room or furnishing a new flat, our rolled range offers a fast and efficient way to transform your sleep.

The benefits of a mattress in a box

Effortless delivery and setup

The primary advantage of a rolled mattress is how easily it can be moved throughout your home.

  • Navigation through tight spaces: Because the mattress is condensed, it can be carried by one or two people into attic rooms or through winding corridors with ease.
  • Simplified setup: Once you have placed the box in your room of choice, you simply remove the packaging and watch the mattress expand. It is a stress-free way to install a Double mattress or Single mattress.

Premium internal construction

We use specifically engineered components that are designed to be compressed and then return to their original shape perfectly.

  • Resilient spring and foam systems: Our rolled range includes both Hybrid mattresses and pure Foam mattresses. These materials are chosen for their ability to maintain structural integrity even after being vacuum-sealed.
  • Instant pressure relief: Once fully expanded, the layers provide targeted support for your spine and joints, ensuring a healthy and restorative night of rest from the very first use.

Hygienic and fresh arrival

Vacuum-sealing a mattress provides an extra layer of protection during the journey from our workshop to your bedroom.

  • Factory fresh: The airtight seal ensures that your mattress remains free from dust and moisture during transit.
  • Breathable fabrics: We finish our rolled mattresses with high-quality, breathable covers that encourage airflow as soon as the mattress begins to expand, helping to regulate your temperature as you sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size mattresses are available at Oliver & Sons?
We offer them in a variety of sizes to accommodate different bed frames and sleeping preferences. The available sizes typically include: Twin: Ideal for children's rooms, guest rooms, or small bedrooms where space is limited. The Twins measure approximately 38 inches wide and 75 inches long. Twin XL: Slightly longer than a standard twin mattress, twin XL are commonly used in college dormitories and for taller individuals. They measure approximately 38 inches wide and 80 inches long. Full/Double: Also known as double mattresses, provide more width than a twin mattress, making them suitable for single sleepers who prefer an extra room or for couples who like to snuggle. They measure approximately 54 inches wide and 75 inches long. Queen: Queen is one of the most popular mattress sizes, offering ample space for single sleepers or couples without taking up too much room in the bedroom. They measure approximately 60 inches wide and 80 inches long. King: King provides the most sleeping space, making them ideal for couples who want plenty of room to spread out or share with pets or children. They measure approximately 76 inches wide and 80 inches long. California King: California king mattresses are longer and narrower than standard king mattresses, making them suitable for taller individuals or those who prefer extra length. They measure approximately 72 inches wide and 84 inches long.
How do I choose the right mattress firmness?
Here are some factors to consider when determining the ideal firmness level for your mattress: Sleeping Position: Your preferred sleeping position can influence the ideal firmness level of your mattress. Body Weight: Your body weight can affect how much pressure you exert on the mattress and how deeply you sink into it. Personal Preference: Ultimately, the firmness level of your mattress should align with your personal comfort preferences. Some people prefer the plush feel of a softer mattress, while others prefer the firm support of a firmer mattress. Health Conditions: Certain health conditions, such as chronic pain or arthritis, may influence your choice of mattress firmness. In such cases, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional for personalised recommendations.
Do mattresses come with a sleep trial?
Yes, typically they come with a sleep trial period, allowing you to try out the mattress in the comfort of your own home before making a final decision. During the sleep trial period, you have the opportunity to sleep on the mattress and determine if it meets your comfort and support needs. If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with the mattress during the sleep trial period, you may be eligible to return it for a full refund or exchange, subject to the terms and conditions of the sleep trial policy. This allows you to make an informed decision about your mattress purchase without the risk of being stuck with a mattress that doesn't meet your needs. It's essential to review the specific terms and duration of the sleep trial period for the mattress you are interested in, as these details may vary depending on the model and promotional offers available at the time of purchase. Additionally, be sure to follow any instructions regarding the return process to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience.
How do I care for my mattress?
Here are some general care and maintenance tips: Use a Mattress Protector: Consider using a mattress protector to help prevent spills, stains, and dust mites from penetrating the mattress. A waterproof or water-resistant mattress protector can provide an additional layer of protection against accidents and spills. Keep the Mattress Clean: Vacuum your mattress periodically to remove dust, debris, and allergens that can accumulate over time. Use a handheld vacuum with an upholstery attachment to gently vacuum the surface of the mattress. Spot Clean Stains: If spills or stains occur, spot clean the affected area immediately with a mild detergent and water. Blot the stain with a clean cloth or sponge, taking care not to saturate the mattress. Allow the mattress to air dry thoroughly before replacing the bedding. By following these care and maintenance tips, you can help prolong the life of your mattress and enjoy a comfortable and supportive sleep surface for years to come.
Are mattresses compatible with adjustable bed frames?
Yes, many are compatible with adjustable bed frames, allowing you to customise your sleep position for optimal comfort and support. Adjustable bed frames, also known as power bases or adjustable bases, allow you to elevate or recline different parts of the mattress to achieve your desired sleeping position. When using a mattress with an adjustable bed frame, it's essential to follow any guidelines or recommendations provided by the mattress manufacturer to ensure proper support and functionality. Additionally, be sure to check the warranty terms and conditions to confirm that using the mattress with an adjustable bed frame does not void the warranty coverage. For more Details Read out our Mattress Guide.
How long does a rolled mattress take to expand?
Most of our mattresses will begin to take shape immediately after the seal is broken. While you can usually sleep on the mattress within a few hours, we recommend waiting 24 to 48 hours for it to reach its full height and for the internal fillings to settle completely into their intended positions.
Is a rolled mattress as good as a normal one?
Yes. The rolling process is simply a delivery method and does not negatively impact the long-term support or durability of the mattress. We use the same high-grade Pocket springs and luxury foams in our rolled range as we do in our traditional flat-delivered collections.
Can I roll the mattress back up myself?
No. The compression is achieved using industrial machinery that cannot be replicated at home. Once the mattress has expanded to its full size, it should be treated like a standard mattress. If you need to move it to a different room, it should be carried flat or slightly folded if the construction allows.
